How Long is the Max Patch Hike?

Our planned hike to Max Patch is a 1.5-mile loop trail. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 30 min to summit, walking uphill through the woods and then reaching the higher peaks.

We provide transportation to the trail which is about 30 minutes or more from the retreat house and we will all hike together.

What’s the Internet like?

Please note the retreat house is in a rural area, which is amazing for groups like us attempting to bond or do spiritual practice. Please note that most mobile phones will not have service in the mountains. However, you may use the house phone to make and receive calls. We are headed on this retreat to unplug but the good news is that the house just received fiber optic internet, so it is possible you will be able to text via Wi-Fi!

This is an alcohol-free event with an emphasis on becoming more conscious and present, substance-free!

Let’s also UNPLUG as much as possible during the retreat. No phone during yoga and sound bath sessions please!!

What is the weather like at this season?

Summertime weather here is warm, just bring a long sleeve or hoodie for the end of the Max Patch Hike or to stay warm in the house if you get cold from air conditioner.

Is transportation or flight included?

Only the transportation van from the airport to the retreat center and back is included. Your flight is not included in the price and you are responsible for booking it.

Do I need to know spanish to attend?

NOPE!

Knowing common Spanish words is helpful although many Costa Rican’s know basic english words too and there tend to be expats around who speak other languages such as english often too.

You will do great!

Can I drink the water there?

We recommend that you only drink bottled water in the Caribbean side of Costa Rica where we will be and in general across the country.

What about the toilet/plumbing situation?

You actually cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet as the plumbing system can’t handle it. The country's plumbing was never built to accommodate for excessive amount of toilet paper and, since many systems are septic or composting, you'll find 'toilet paper bins' in every toilet stall, all over the country. So…do the right thing…and pop it in the bin!

Is it safe in Costa Rica?

Yes, but it is always important to use common sense and travel in groups whenever possible and not leave valuables out of sight, such as on the beach when in the water. Crime does happen and it’s important to recognize that it’s a friendly country with beautiful people but like any place there are opportunities for dangerous things to happen, stay vigilant and aware!

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we offer KLARNA plans here at Checkout. You will see the option as you go through the process and can see what you qualify for
